Calendar CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION Dec. 1, Jan. 5, Feb. 2, March 2 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Norfolk Room | $50 Learn the stages of labor and comfort measures to manage the labor process, including controlled breathing, relaxation, positioning and mental techniques. Registration is required. BREASTFEEDING EDUCATION Nov. 20, Dec. 19, Jan. 16, Feb. 20, March 20 7 to 9 p.m. | Norfolk Room | $30 Successful breastfeeding is best achieved by preparation, determination and support. This class prepares you for the unique experience between a mother and her newborn by teaching the techniques of a comfortable latch. Registration is required. FREEDOM FROM SMOKING Jan. 7 to Feb. 18, or March 12 to April 23 | 5:30 to 7 p.m. | Terrace View Room | $100 Participate in a step-by-step plan designed to help smokers gain control over their behavior and quit smoking. Participants are encouraged to work on the process and problems of quitting, both individually and as part of a group. Class meets weekly. Registration is required. A TIME TO HEAL: ALL SURVIVORS 12-week series, starting this spring | 4 to 6:30 p.m. | Faith Regional | Free This 12-week educational program helps people regain physical, emotional, intellectual, psychological and spiritual health after undergoing treatment for cancer. Classes are for cancer survivors who have completed their primary cancer treatments and their caregivers. Class is limited to 20. To learn more and to register, call 402-644-7396 . Events TIES AND TIARAS Dec. 9 | 2 to 5 p.m. | Divots DeVent Center | • In advance: $20 per parent/child pair; $5 each additional person • At the door: $30 per parent/child pair; $5 each additional person Enjoy dancing, a candy station, photo booth, games, crafts, raffle, silent auction and a special visit from Santa Claus. Children can enjoy this fun event in their holiday attire and must be accompanied by a parent, grandparent or other parental figure. Proceeds benefit the Northeast Nebraska Child Advocacy Center. DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP Jan. 2, March 6 | 4 to 5 p.m. | Madison Room This support group provides education on meal planning, physical activity, blood glucose monitoring, medication management and prevention of long-term complications for those who have been diagnosed with diabetes and their family members and/or caregivers in a supportive environment.
