SOON AFTER ANNOUNCING his run for Nebraska governor, Mike and Mandi Flood, of Norfolk, were faced with the news that Mandi had been diagnosed with breast cancer. “We had a lot of options of where to go for care,” Mike says. “We met with the folks at Faith Regional—the medical professionals, surgeons and cancer specialists—and we were really impressed with everything.” “When you’re going through something like this, you want to be at home,” Mandi adds. “You don’t want to be in a hotel room. We didn’t have to worry about travel. Everyone was wonderful.” The Floods are no strangers to patient care at Faith Regional. Both of their children were born here, and on Mandi’s last day of radiation, Mike was in the back of an ambulance on the way to Faith Regional with a 99 percent blocked artery. He had a stent placed in his heart and successfully com- pleted the cardiac rehabilitation program here. “We’re Faith Regional supporters,” Mike says. “Living in rural Nebraska, believing in rural Nebraska and doing business in rural Nebraska, you want to support the local hospital because everything that happens here is good for all of us.” That’s why Mike and Mandi are proud to be co-chairs of the campaign for the new South Medical Office Building being constructed just south of the hospital’s West Campus. “Every dollar spent on this expansion will help Faith Regional recruit and retain medical profes- sionals, provide quality care close to home, and grow our community,” Mike says. “This expansion is going to set the stage for the next 25 years of growth in the community.” Together, we can make a Strong Faith and create a Healthy Future. What started as a wish and a dream has become a thriving center of hope and healing for the many patients and families in our region touched by cancer.
