we reached the summit,” Dr. Bailey
says. “I felt I had achieved something I
had been dreaming about for 11 years,
and the reason why I was up there on
that mountain literally brought me to
tears.” The climbers were at the sum-
mit for about 40 minutes, crying and
celebrating their accomplishment.
Dream Medical Center
Dr. Bailey first visited the Dream
Medical Center in Kigali, Rwanda,
in July 2016. Her belief that having
access to health care can change a
nation was one of the motivating fac-
tors. As a physician, she is amazed at
the scope of services this three-story,
state-of-the-art medical facility will
offer, from an emergency room and
intensive care unit to obstetrics and
surgery.
“People in this part of the world
will be able to receive all of the medi-
cal care they need without having
to travel to another city for health
care,” Dr. Bailey says. “I would love to
help or teach here someday. I sponsor
a young African girl who wants to be
a doctor and to think that we might
be able to work together in the future
is exciting.”

goal.
