Faith Regional named one of America’s FAITH REGIONAL HEALTH SERVICES is the only hospital in Nebraska to be named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care in 2018 by Healthgrades. Healthgrades evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 34 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions.* Healthgrades identified the 100 best-performing hospitals across all condi- tions or procedures evaluated within stroke care. The achievement is part of findings released in the “Healthgrades 2018 Report to the Nation.” The new report demonstrates how clinical performance continues to differ dramatically between hospitals nationally, regionally and at the local level, and the impact that this variation may have on health outcomes. Lifesaving stroke care For example, from 2014 to 2016, patients treated at hospitals receiving the America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care Award have, on average, a 36.4 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.* Additionally, patients treated at hospitals that did not receive the America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care Award are, on average, 1.57 times more likely to die than if they were treated at hos- pitals that did receive the award.* “It is an honor to be recognized on a national level for the tremendous efforts and exemplary medical services carried out each and every day by our dedicated physicians and staff,” says Mark Klosterman, President and CEO of Faith Regional. “Their commitment to quality and delivering ex- cellent patient care is reflected in the Healthgrades America’s 100 Best for Stroke Care Award and so many others. This advanced certification was recently renewed by The Joint Commission, in conjunc- tion with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association, after another rigor- ous review in December 2017. This means that Faith Regional staff are expertly trained in provid- ing best practices in stroke care. They can quickly assess the patient and triage accordingly. Not only does the hospital meet or exceed national standards in stroke care, Faith Regional continuously works to educate the community on recognizing the signs and symptoms of a stroke and to call 911 immediately. *Statistics are based on Healthgrades analysis of MedPAR data for years 2014 through 2016 and represent three-year estimates for Medicare patients only.
