Faith Regional Health Services | living WELL | Spring 2021

FRHS.ORG 3 IN DECEMBER 2020, the first of our front-line staff at Faith Regional Health Services received the initial dose of their COVID-19 vaccinations. With each shot administered, applause broke out from all in the room, and there was an overwhelming feeling of hope! To many health care workers, the COVID-19 vaccine meant the beginning of the end of the pandemic. As employees continued to receive their vaccine, a photo booth was proudly displayed in the room with the words “Helping to Move Us Forward,” the mantra adopted by Faith Regional. It’s with all of our tools— including getting vaccinated, wear- ing a mask, social distancing and frequent handwashing—that we’ll see the light of a post-pandemic world. Continuing to heal While health care workers here and globally continue to battle COVID-19, it’s also important to keep in mind that other diseases and injuries do not stop for a pan- demic. Cancer still spreads. Strokes still strike. New babies are wel- comed into the world. While Faith Regional continues to be a regional hub for treat- ing COVID-19 patients, we also continue growing our services to support the health and wellness of north-central and northeast Nebraska. More services for you We expanded our services and care locations to invest in our commu- nities as well as provide opportu- nities for residents to receive the care they need locally. In January, we opened a primary care clinic in Battle Creek that serves patients five days a week. Last fall, we opened a new specialty clinic in Columbus, offering both cardiology and orthopedic services. In addition, more of our special- ists, including those in the fields of endocrinology, orthopedics, pulm- onology and urology, began seeing patients in-person or virtually at other critical access hospitals throughout our region. Providers for your needs In early 2021, a new plastic and reconstruction surgeon joined our medical staff, providing a wide range of options in cosmetic services as well as oncological and trauma reconstruction. By the end of 2021, we are set to add over 15 new providers to our staff: a cardi- ologist, a hospitalist, a neurologist, an orthopedic surgeon, a primary care physician, a pulmonologist, a physiatrist and more! We continue to recruit and bring specialists to our region to meet the medical needs of our patient population—keeping care close to home. While this past year has been one for the books, we look for- ward to moving forward together! Kelly Driscoll, RN, MHA, FACHE President and CEO Moving forward together It’s with all of our tools—including getting vaccinated, wearing a mask, social distancing and frequent handwashing—that we’ll see the light of a post-pandemic world.
