Nonprofit Org. U.S. Postage PAID Walla Walla, WA Permit No. 44 FAITH REGIONAL HEALTH SERVICES 2700 W. Norfolk Ave. Norfolk, NE 68701 DEVASTATINGLY, 1 in 10 children from all walks of life will experience sexual abuse before their 18th birthday. The Northeast Nebraska Child Advocacy Center helps provide hope and healing to these child abuse victims. Opened in 2004, the center treats over 300 children annually across a 24-county region. Professionals from child protective services, law enforcement, and medical and mental health communities join together to investigate and intervene in cases of suspected child abuse. The nonprofit, hos- pital-based center provides forensic interviews and forensic medical exams, as well as advocacy services for the children and nonoffend- ing family members. The pandemic presented an increased need for services, which resulted in a 20% increase in cases in 2020—and the needs have continued to rise in 2021. One of the biggest obstacles for families seeking help is cost. Families served through the Child Advocacy Center will never receive a bill for services. “The kindness of everyone was amazing during this very difficult time. I never thought I’d have to use this service, but now that I need it, I appreciate it and have a whole new perspective of the benefits this agency offers to northeast Nebraska.” —A patient’s family member How you can help During this year’s Holiday Appeal, Faith Regional Health Services Foundation is raising funds for the Northeast Nebraska Child Advocacy Center.
