We are a Blue Distinction

®

Center+ for Maternity Care

Faith Regional is one of the first hospitals

to receive the Blue Distinction Center+

for Maternity Care designation, a new

designation under the Blue Distinction

Specialty Care program by Blue Cross

and Blue Shield (BCBS). The designation

recognizes hospitals for delivering qual-

ity, affordable specialty care safely and

effectively based on objective measures

developed by the medical community.

The program evaluates hospitals on

several quality measures, including:

•

The percentage of newborns that

fall into the category of early elective

delivery.

•

Overall patient satisfaction, including a

willingness to recommend the hospital

to others.

•

Cost efficiency.

•

Evidence-based practices of care.

•

Programs to promote successful

breastfeeding.

Hospitals recognized for these

designations were assessed using a

combination of publicly available quality

information and cost measures derived

from BCBS companies’ medical claims.

Research shows that, compared to

other facilities, those designated as Blue

Distinction Centers demonstrate bet-

ter quality and improved outcomes for

patients. On average, Blue Distinction

Centers are also 20 percent more

cost-efficient than health care facilities

without the designation.

More than exceptional care

We are focused on delivering high-

quality maternity care for you and your

baby. But that’s not all you can expect at

Faith Regional. Some of our specialized

obstetrics (OB) services and amenities

include:

•

Level 2 neonatal intensive care unit.

•

C-section suites located on unit.

•

Highly-trained, dedicated OB nurses.

•

Lactation consulting and breastfeed-

ing support.

•

Childbirth education.

•

Pre- and post-pregnancy therapy.

birth. The decision was quickly made,

and the nurses and surgical team

sprang into action.

“All of a sudden, I was talking to

an anesthetist, being prepped for

surgery and wheeled down the hall

to the operating room,” Jodi says. “It

all happened so fast, but everyone

was so calm and understanding while

keeping me updated on the baby

and the whole process. This was so

reassuring.”

A happy outcome

Within less than 45 minutes of calling

the nurse, the couple joyfully heard

the first cries from their healthy baby

boy, Moxon.

“I was so relieved to hear those first

cries and see those beautiful eyes!”

says Jodi.

Once their baby was delivered, the

couple got to enjoy their first special

moments together, both in the oper-

ating room and the postpartum room

across the hall.

“Once I knew he was healthy, I was

able to relax and know that it was go-

ing to be all right,” Jodi says.

The nursing team continued to

closely monitor mom and baby

while teaching Jodi breastfeeding

techniques. The couple stayed in the

hospital for several more days before

bringing their new bundle safely

home.

“I really hadn’t prepared for the

possibility of a cesarean delivery,

let alone one that had the level of

urgency as this,” Jodi says. “When it

happened, I was just so thankful to be

at a place where they could handle it.”
