GOALS LEAD TO BETTER HEALTH OUTCOMES, PATIENT SAFETY AND COST EFFICIENCY

FAITH REGIONAL’S

core strat-

egies are based on a patient-centered

approach focusing on cost, quality,

efficiency and value. These goals are

at the center of everything we do and

every decision we make. So it was

very gratifying when the hospital was

recognized recently by Blue Cross and

Blue Shield of Nebraska. They an-

nounced that Faith Regional Health

Services was designated as a Blue

Distinction

®

Center+ for Maternity

Care and a Blue Distinction Center for

Knee and Hip Replacement, part of

their Blue Distinction Specialty Care

program. Blue Distinction Centers

are nationally designated health care

facilities shown to meet require-

ments for cost efficiency and deliver

improved patient safety and better

health outcomes, based on objective

measures that were developed by Blue

Cross and Blue Shield with input from

the medical community.

How do our goals and these des-

ignations align to benefit our pa-

tients? Hospitals designated as Blue

Distinction Centers for Knee and Hip

Replacement demonstrate expertise in

total knee and total hip replacement

surgeries, resulting in fewer patient

complications and hospital readmis-

sions. With the Blue Distinction

Center+ for Maternity Care, Faith

Regional was one of the first hospitals

to receive this new designation (read

more about this and our maternity

services on pages 4 and 5). Both of

these designations affirm our ability to

deliver high-quality care at the lowest

cost.

Faith Regional also received 11 qual-

ity awards for 2016 from Healthgrades

®

,

including heart failure, stroke and pul-

monary care. The hospital is a certified

primary stroke center and an accred-

ited chest pain center. Nebraska state

guidelines recommend the emergency

medical services transfer of any patient

exhibiting signs/symptoms of a stroke

or heart attack to the closest primary

stroke center and closest hospital ca-

pable of PCI (percutaneous catheteriza-

tion intervention). Using national best

practices as the standard of care ensures

patients have better health outcomes.

When it comes to value, we can look

at the top five service lines—cardiac,

orthopedics, maternity, pulmonary

and cancer—and compare costs with

similar-volume hospitals in Nebraska.

On average, we are able to offer health

care services that are below the cost of

care provided at other facilities.

As we work to become a regional

referral center, Faith Regional will

continue to focus on the needs of

our patients where they receive care.

Delivering evidence-based, quality

care safely; managing the costs for

those services; and working with pro-

viders, suppliers and payers to maxi-

mize the greatest savings for patients

will be the hospital’s priorities.

While we are proud of the

Blue Distinction designations and

Healthgrades achievements, doing

what is best for our patients means

more to us.
